The framing process
After an initial chat, we would recommend a meeting at our workshop to discuss your framing project and fully understand what you are aiming to achieve. There are three main aspects to consider:

The Mount
Working from the inside out, the first decision to be made concerns the type of mount board. Which colour, texture and quality is suitable? Does it call for a single or double mount or no mount at all? Should it be fun and funky or conservation grade?

The Frame
Then comes the frame itself. We prefer to work with the subtle variations and textures of wood. It can be pre-finished, waxed, lime-washed or left natural, but it always adds a unique layer of interest to the finished article.

The Glass
And finally, the glass. This not only enhances your artwork, but also provides protection against environmental damage. We highly recommend using anti-reflective glass for a superior finish, although this is not always appropriate.
Like all good teamwork, a picture and its frame are at their best when working together. The frame should not overpower the image, but draw the viewer’s eye into the object being framed.
There are four levels of framing, as set out by the Fine Art Guild, ranging from Level 1 ( Ultimate) to Level 4 ( Low level) . If you would like further information on this, please click here.
